Jared Miller, Field Marketer for MKC, says that the Answer Plot®
provides, “a chance for producers to get an in depth look at new traits,
technology and products being introduced into the field of agriculture.”
2012 marks the fourth year that MKC has been utilizing the Answer Plot®
program. Merle Nelson, who farms outside of Lindsborg, Kansas, has been coming
to the Answer Plot® since MKC first began offering them. “I come to get ideas
on seed variety selections and answers to fertility questions,” Nelson said.
“The biggest thing producers
should take away from the session is the proper ways of doing things on their
farm, from fertility needs to weed control,” said Brent Floerke, MKC Field
Marketer.
Caleb McNally, one of the presenters for Winfield, explained that the
Answer Plot® enables producers to view new farming practices without assuming
any of the risk associated with doing so. “We take the risk in practice, so
producers can use it on their farms,” said McNally.
Representatives from Winfield Solutions discuss plant growth on a parrticular variety of corn. |
“Answer Plot provides a hands-on approach to learning,” said Miller.
“Producers get a chance to put their hands on a plant and dig up the roots.
Anything else they would see is greenhouse grown; this shows plants in a local
environment.”
Stations covering adjuvants and weed control practices were also
available to producers.
“The information on surfactants and spraying was good,” said Tyler
Stucky who farms in the Moundridge/Goessel area.
Answer Plot® sessions are an excellent opportunity, for both producers
and MKC employees involved in agronomy, to learn about the most up-to-date farm
practices.
Justin Schrag who farms outside of Moundridge said, “There are many
different variables they provide to us to help manage our farms and produce
higher yields.”
The Answer Plot® is located south
of Inman at 1084 Arapaho Road. The next session
is scheduled for Thursday, August 9, at 5:00 p.m. and will include a meal.
