Jeff Naysmith, MKC Location Manager, presents a donation to students from Walton Rural Life Center. |
“We
truly appreciate this donation and would like to give a big Walton Rural Life
Center thank you from the students and staff,” said Natise Vogt, Principal. “Part of the money will go directly to
enhance our project-based learning and part will go into our foundation for expanding
the school.
The donation comes at a critical time for the school as the school is in the middle of raising funds to expand classroom space. “We need to expand to accommodate all of the students wanting to attend our school and we are trying to raise sufficient funds to build two additional classrooms for next year,” said Vogt.
Without
expanding the classroom area, some students currently on a wait list to get
into the school will have to be turned away.
Each
year MKC donates to programs within their communities to promote agricultural
education, alleviate hunger, and promote leadership. The Walton Rural Life
Center is the perfect example of combining agriculture and education.
“The
students at Walton Rural Life Center have many agricultural learning
opportunities that few other students in the nation experience,” Naysmith
said. “Our support will help them
continue the excellent programs they provide.
It is our hope that some of these students will choose a career in
agriculture in some form, whether as a farmer, or in agricultural cooperatives
such as MKC.”
